The last light of the sun
shines window panes and tree limbs onto walls
which shimmer golden
in its lingering touch.
Tall trees, too,
find themselves blessed,
kissed against dramatic eastern skies —
a flush of farewell purple
suffuses everything
before the cooling hush
of day’s goodbye.
