Love Paints

Love paints itself on everything
This street I climb, these clouds
like round beach stones immersed in blue
These trees, their limbs reached out
in praise
This house, with all the smells
I’m eager to escape

Love paints itself on everything
The faces of the regulars in that cafe
The smile and wave one gave me as I left
As if I, too, would come there every day—
I took it with me — unexpected gift

“Which muse,” he teased, “has led you?
“I’ll be keeping track.”
But every inspiration pours out love
It all comes back
To bless this fertile chamber where I grow
my love to give it to the world.

Empowered

To see you sovereign
is my delight:
to see you stand,
your power fully
at your own command.
You wield it, as you must,
from your abiding love
and so, implicitly, I trust
your truth.  And also your resolve.

And though the waves
of doubt and pain
may crash against your walls
I trust your strength
to persevere
till each aggressor falls.

And you will reach
your valiant hand once more
To raise up anyone
who’s beaten down
and set them standing
upright on your shore
and walk with them
till they can walk alone.

Attitude of Dance

    Two trees
Their limbs now bare
Reveal an attitude of dance
The smaller one
Leaning in to feel the sweet enclosure
Of the other’s arms
The larger one
Awed and grateful
Holding such a rare and precious gift

Along the dance of time
The moment
The truth of their embrace, their love
Is held
While we, ephemeral
May wander by it
May be drawn in
By moments we have felt
Which may remain
Long after we have danced them
A memory this kind of stance imparts
As stable as if formed in living wood
Enduring as a tree
Within our hearts.

All my loves

I want you together
I want the paint of my words
To flow through many transparencies
Touching each one
So you each know
These words are for you

(Your heart is so generous
Your hands are so beautiful
Your hug is so warm
Your path is so magical
Your smile is so radiant)

The colors course along the lines
The pentagram of power
Binds us to each other
Sends our signal out as one.

Freedom

My sovereign soul
Now steps clear
of all restrictions
Everything that might constrain connection
Any sense of bowing
to dictators of repression
who claim to grant permission
and sanction all my actions —
They have no more traction,
     engender no reaction.
So I can be
the one who is needed now
I can see
the thing you are asking for
And I can give forth
from my own authority
that which you’re needing
that which belongs to me
     steadfast integrity
     homing insistently
     daily delivering
Soul-garnered freedom.

Fight Mode

I am called to fight
Roused to fierce defense
Shaking the bland shroud
that duped me for so long
    that said, you are free—see?
You’re free to choose
and you (collectively) have chosen
to step on the heads of others
while running this ugly treadmill
You have chosen
to buy what you want
for the low cost of your souls
and let the land be raped
just so you wouldn’t know.
No! I did not choose this
and no I do not want this
and no I will not let you take
my supple soul.
So I stand
Centered, wary
Charged by a line of power
Pulling an ancient strength
Down through the lines of life
Star-started DNA
Holding me steady
Source-aligned thunder
Clearly aimed, ready
I have been wakened to see through the sham
I will defend us with all that I am.

Signals: a collage

Explorer tracks its arc through space
Its lonely bleep a leap of existential faith
A signal it must make without a sign
That anyone has heard or might respond

Vibrations leap and link across the room
Each one homing, each one joining
Structuring a strong deep sphere of sound
Catch our hearts up in their sparkling tones

Kisses call across the plane of skin
Set the signal seeking
Receive an answer rising from within
Dissolve the boundary of who is speaking

Words set out in existential faith
Across the unknown span between the stories
Unsure if they’ll be met on some receiving side
Or if they’ll bleep in lonely fading glory

A light, a note, a kiss, an explanation
Launched by need, held in their arcs by hope
Deep sphere of Love — enclose their circle, hold them
Converge them in your center, show them home.
